How to Hold Back a Winning Hand
There's nothing better than catching the nuts hand in a game of low-limit holdem. You might have been sitting there, whether in a live game or online, folding hand after hand of bad cards. Generally, a good player will only play 20 to 25 percent of all hands. Naturally, once in a while you must play an inferior hand, simply to make the other players believe you're playing looser than you are.
Then all of a sudden, you discover yourself containing an unbeatable hand. But of course, you don't wish anybody to know that. What you need to do is maximize the pot prior to taking it all, as you know you will. You're in the best conceivable position. Now it's time to play it for all it's worth.
Slow playing the hand will grant you to the most out opportunities. This is the reverse of bluffing, where you should pretend you've got a great hand when you don't. In this case, the thought is to convince the other players that your hand isn't so great, or at best average. This will hold them in the round, whereas if you play aggressively at this point, they might fold.
If you've been playing right, others will think you've got an substandard hand and assume you're playing it possibly because you're just tired from folding so much. Either that, or they're not devoting that a lot of attention to your play, which is all right also. You surely don't want to point out your strategy or real skill level.
The method of check raising will assist you in maximizing your profits from this hand. Your initial check in a round of betting shows you don't have really great cards. Then when it's your turn to act once more, other players have grown the pot for you. Therefore they've increased their investment in the game, and as you now raise, they're prepared to call instead of folding.
The smooth call is additional way of hiding your winning position. When you call rather than raising, the other players continue to be unaware of how great your hand actually is. Once more, the idea isn't to frighten anyone off by playing aggressively and, as the saying goes, tipping your hand. Let them go on calling and raising to increase the pot which will shortly be yours.
Another way of viewing this method is that you're fishing for the overcall. If you raise, you may cause players with an average hands to choose to fold. But when you call instead, they ideally will call after you, which is to your advantage.
In the end you'll win this round, which you can't help doing because you've got an unbeatable hand. And your strategy will finally become plain to the other players, or at any rate to the ones who are paying attention. But the great thing about low-limit holdem is that you may before long have the chance to outplay everybody all over again.
How to Tackle Playing Sets in Short Handed No Limit Holdem
One of the most stimulating variants of Texas Holdem is playing short handed No Limit Holdem Poker. This kind of playing technique not only enables you to analyze your opponents well but also to modify your playing strategy that you would otherwise not do while playing in a full ring game.
You must know the art of changing your play technique when you are attempting short handed games. Nearly eight times that you play a pair, you flop a set but you do so only if you have a strong hand. In short handed no limit Holdem games, it is not pot odds that are vital but the implied odds which are of significance. For instance, you have pocket fours and you have to call a $20 raise before a flop and your opponent has $400 chips on him, you may want to hit your set on the flop and stand the good fortune of earning a considerable amount from your competitor's stack. But for this you will first need to play a few single pairs.
In case you miss the flop with your single pair, you can still get away with a small loss. Sometimes when you overlook flopping a set, you may have to fold to a bet from your rival at the table. Many a time you may have to play with players who raised before a flop with a pair or a hand, such as A-J. They may check to you on the flop according to the situation of the board. A player who raises with J-J will surely check to you if you call their raise and an over card will be the one to hit the board. The same may be the case with aces and kings. You can take this opportunity to draw another free card to hit your set.
If you do hit your set, it is advisable to slow play your hand. Slow play could be based on a few reasons such as, if the board flops with a possible draw, you may want to make your opponent pay for drawing out on you. Secondly, in no limit Holdem Poker if the board is not so intimidating, you might want to check so as to generate a bet from your opponent, specifically if you think that they may have a hit top pair or have a pair in their hand. You might also want to slow play if you think that your opponent is excessively insistent. There certainly will be times when both you and your opponent have sets and your opponent might out flop or outdraw your set.
There will also be times when your opponents chase badly with particular draws and hits, some others may call with an over pair and hit on the opportunity. These are some of the things that you will have to face while playing Texas Holdem [] poker. But do not by any chance let your misfortune affect your mind and your game. Just play your game normally and you will have the majority of wins when you flop a set.
Limit Hold'em - Winning Short-Handed Strategies Book Review
There's a lot more to the book than how to play a better poker game. It likewise deals with fundamental concepts that many books do not put a dent in. The book Addresses, table Selection, player modeling, standard Deviation, & statistics. If you have not discovered these concepts before then this is a good reason to study this book. The most beneficial section is on "super-short" games, these tables commonly have only two to four players. I am certain you acknowledge that the game alters a good deal when there are fewer players at the table. I read this book since I found it hard to find full tables at a few online poker rooms I play at, this book will assist you in playing these shorthanded & turbo tables that you discover online. The book is 362 pages of a few of the most exclusive poker facts that you can't get anyplace else. Be sure to analyze the 245 quiz questions & examples that are in the book & your game will improve & you'll start to dominate & control the limit hold'em poker tables.
If you play shorthanded limit hold 'em you need to buy the book. I've read numerous poker books & these are the best strategies ever written about the subject of shorthanded limit hold'em. Former books include parts on playing shorthanded but none of them can even compare to the quantity of information that this book renders on the subject. These authors have chosen a small but crucial part of playing limit hold'em & converted it into a great piece of work. This book is the new authority on playing shorthanded limit hold'em. Since the subject isn't the most popular the book doesn't get the same esteem as say Winning Low-Limit Hold'em by Lee Jones but the maneuvers taught are as useful. If you play fixed limit poker you must buy this book, if you play poker then you'll encounter shorthanded games at some point & need to know strategies that will work. There is not an aspect of playing shorthanded that the book doesn't address.
I seldom thought of shorthanded games as profitable till I read this book. The authors Terry Bored & Lawrence Mak have made a lot of money playing online poker & are experts. This book may not better every facet of your game but you won't learn more on the subject anyplace else. The book blew me away, possibly because I didn't have high prospects for it, but in the end I was glad I read it. The worst part of the book is that it's just 362 pages & it departs you desiring even more.
Poker Hand - How to Hide Yours
Nobody ever talks about about how to hide your hand at the poker table. We have all seen how the pros do it on TV, but for the average weekend Texas Holdem player that finds themselves in Vegas or a casino playing poker for the weekend, hiding your hand is probably the furthest thing from your mind. However, it can be important and do not think that other players are not trying to peek, as unethical as that may be!
First, the easiest way to hide your hand when you go to look at your cards is to cup both hands around the cards and only lift the end of the cards closest to you. Do not lift the entire card. Also, keep the hand as close to your rail of the table as possible. This further eliminates the chances of someone seeing a card. If it is farther away, players to either side may catch a glimpse. Also, someone walking behind you may see your cards if they are further away from you as well.
The next time you must be careful about hiding your hand is when you fold. Many players will try to get a look at at least one of the cards you folded, especially if the hand went to a flop, turn, or river. This way, they can get a read on how you might play the next hand. It is best to slide your cards to the dealer slowly. Do not pick them up and toss them. Players can see from underneath and also there is more of a chance that a card will be exposed accidentally. This is also why you move the cards to the dealer slowly. Hasty movements will sometimes result in a card being turned up.
Mucking slowly and looking at your cards slowly is even more important in games other than No Limit Texas Holdem. Games like Omaha give you 4 cards in your hand, so there is even more chance for error. Stud will give you 5 holes cards if you go all the way to 7th street, so you really need to be aware of keeping the cards concealed.
Remember, poker is a game of incomplete information. The more information your opponents can get on you, the bigger advantage they have. Hiding your cards at a poker table is important at all times and an aspect that cannot be overlooked.
No Limit Holdem Poker Strategy - Strategy Secrets For Serious Players
Serious players need serious No Limit Holdem Poker strategy secrets. Learn them right here, right now. Read this article now to learn them.
90% of players don't have a solid No Limit Holdem Poker strategy and just play as it comes. That's why 90% of poker players lose money overall playing poker. Don't be a sucker, learn the secrets that the serious players are using to make bucketloads of cash from the fish.
No Limit Holdem Poker Strategy Secret #1
The first secret you need to know is you need to be using a strategy that is in line with you as a player. The strategy needs to work 100% with you in order for you to be able to be 100% successful. Here's some basic examples.
If you were a cash game player and using a tournament strategy, you wouldn't do too well. If you were a Sit N Go player and were using a ring game strategy, you won't do to well. If you are risk averse and don't like gambling, a LAG strategy wouldn't work. If you hated repetition and loved the thrill of the game, a TAG strategy wouldn't work for you.
Get the idea?
No Limit Holdem Poker Strategy Secret #2
The second secret you need to know is that a strategy won't cure your poker problems. Your illness, the disease, is with your own skills and abilities.
Although a great poker strategy (like my personal winning tournament strategy I share) can pretty much cover up and mask all your insufficencies and make winning poker practically automatic, most will rely on you as a player to be inputting your own judgments and decisions to achieve success.
This is especially true for advanced strategies where you can profit massively very quickly. Most of these strategies rely on your own calculations, judgments and performing fancy jedi-mind tricks to steal a lot of chips. If you have no idea what you are doing you'll lose a lot of money with these.
What you need to do is two fold:
1 - Actively learn and educate yourself to increase your own inherent skill and ability.
2 - Choose a strategy that works with your own skills and abilities at this point in time.

Limit Hold 'em - The Good, the Bad and the Ugly
To help you understand the advantages and disadvantages of particular poker games, I offer the following brief analysis. Those who have ever played poker online are aware that limit poker was once the most avidly played game on the net. The internet still offers quite a few low and medium limit games, and a few in the $100 to $200 range. The limit game is still easily found online and will continue to be in the future, particularly since only a few players are of the $20 to $40 level of expertise.
There is a plethora of literature available devoted entirely to the game of Limit Hold'em poker. This is a major advantage as even the novice player can avail himself of these books while experiencing actual play and if he is a good student will gain much knowledge of the game. This abounding literature allows decisions to be made more easily and most of those decisions can be explained with basic mathematics and become a tool for instantaneous in-game mental calculations.
Moreover, dispersion is less of a threat in limit games. That coldly calculating deity determines the chances of every player involved at a given moment and even the worst and unluckiest rookie may luck out (if you don't want to go into actual statistics, just read any of Terry Pratchett's hapless-Rincewind novels for a dramatization of this point of games and life).
As a rule, any and all poker games are subject to the mathematical phenomenon of statistical dispersion, i.e. major losses are part of even the most expert player's game, and it is this fact that stops folks from indulging in any game of poker. Limit poker is not as mentally intense as no-limit and tournament games, which involve high dispersion. You don't need a lot of funding to play Limit Hold'em and like the large quantity of literature on the subject, there are computer programs specifically designed for limit poker - Poker Tracker and Poker Office will help low limit players especially. These programs can be used both during the game and after whenever an analysis of any part of the game is called for or to make statistical calculations.
Now for the bad and the ugly. Because of the quantity of information available on the game, there is a large and ever-growing number of knowledgeable, skilled players. So the game while it is easy to find, is not very profitable. Poker rooms make their money from the small amount taken out of the pot for each hand. So, poker rooms earn money not from the number of players, but from the percentage of the total number of hands played at the end of a long series of poker hands. This sum more often than not turns out to be quite a tidy one. Limit games which include good players can wind up with minimal profitability or even a loss.
You will not find many games of limit Hold'em off line. Limit Hold'em doesn't seem to contain the features to make it a casino and club game staple. The aficionados of limit Hold'em love it for what it has - the essence of poker which is the card combinations. It apparently is just not as memorable and socially rewarding as being able to converse with fellow card-playing chums around a table made of real wood.
Playing Limit Hold Em Poker in HORSE
The first poker variation played in HORSE is Limit Hold'em. Obviously, this post will apply to Limit both as it is played during a HORSE game and also as a stand alone game. Although, you will see players play Limit differently during a HORSE game simply because they feel more comfortable with Hold'em than they do with other games.
The main difference between Limit and No Limit is that you can play a wider amount of hands in Limit and also see more cards because you can put an exact cost of doing so. In other words, you know how much it is going to cost you to go for that flush draw and can quickly calculate your pot odds. There are seldom any implied odds or anything like that to worry about.
In addition, since you will play more hands, you might hang around with something like 7-7 longer than you would in a NL game. In a NL game with blinds of $100-$50, if you have 7-7 and limp into a hand, it may end up costing you $400-$500 or more if the flop comes A-K-4, to see another card. You would likely fold here, your 7's are no good and it doesn't pay to chase a 2 outer.
However, in a Limit game, it may only cost you $100 to see the Turn and it MAY make sense to do so. Now, I am not saying to chase every hand, but there are times, particularly when you chip stack can afford it, when it is OK to see another card or two.
You will also find players limping in with more hands and calling to the River, so your T-T may be good enough to win with a flop like Q-9-2. You will see more people in with junk simply because it is cheap to do so and cheap to try and hit a flop. I don't consider this much of a strategy, but a lot of players do it.
My hand selection is still fairly tight in Limit Hold'em, but when I do play a hand, I am less likely to fold it and more likely to play it to the River if I think it has any chance to win. Pick good hands and play them hard. Kind of sounds like NL Hold'em, doesn't it?
Guidelines for Fixed Limit Hold'em Strategies
Around ten years ago fixed limit hold'em was far more popular than no limit hold'em ever was. No limit was often reserved for tournament play while it was difficult to find a live no limit game. Then, in 2003, Chris Moneymaker won the televised World Series of Poker, the ultimate no limit tournament. Moneymaker, an amateur player, won it all and changed the landscape of Texas hold'em. No limit became the game to play while fixed limit took a back seat.
While the games are played with the same 52 cards the strategy for limit is quite different than that of no limit hold'em. Because the bets are fixed and the number of raises limited, the limit game is far less volatile than its more popular cousin. Furthermore, bluffing is not an important part of the limit game; a function of probabilities and pot odds. Finally, limit is a game of patience, a factor that restricts the action of the game.
Volatility
Where no limit hold'em is a game of bluff and bluster, a game where aggression is king, limit is a game in which tight play and sound decisions are rewarded. This is true because betting is limited in two ways. Bet size is predetermined and the number of raises is also limited.
Bet size in say a $2/$4 game is limited in the first two rounds of betting to increments of $4, the size of the big blind. In the later two rounds, the turn and river, the bet size increases to double or big bets of $8 increments. That is all you can bet or raise. Of course if there was a bet and a raise before you and you were going to play your call would be 2 bets or 2 big bets depending on the betting round.
In addition to the limit on the size of the bet, the number of raises allowed during any given round is also limited and when the limit is reached the betting is said to be capped. At most games the limit on raising is set at 4, however, I have played in games where the limits were as low as 3 raises and as high as 5.
The effect of these limits is to limit overall volatility in pot size and in stack size.
Betting and Bluffing
Because betting is capped, the size of the pot relative to the size of the bet required to make a call is often quite small. Another way of thinking about this is that the price offered by the pot is often attractive enough to induce a call even with weak drawing hands. For this reason, bluffing is often not productive in limit hold'em. The bluffer simply cannot make a bet big enough to scare opponents away and the bluffer needs the ability to scare in order to survive.
For this reason, bets in limit hold'em tend to mean exactly what they say they mean.
The three rules of the Limit Game: Patience, Patience, Patience
This will sound like an oxymoron, but in limit you can afford to see a flop with weaker hole cards than you can in no limit. While this doesn't sound like patience, it really is. Seeing a flop where your hand is unimproved means prompts a fold while an improved hand will almost always prompt a bet or a raise. Patience in limit comes with the discipline to let go of unimproved flops. Perhaps the exception to that rule is that many players will stick around for a turn card with a strong to medium draw. The old hold'em adage, "No Bet!" holds true.
The goal is to win big pots but lose small ones. Seeing a lot of flops with a wide but reasonable range of hands is profitable if accompanied by discipline.
In the final analysis, limit hold'em strategy leads to a far less volatile game than no limit, a game in which bluffing is punished, not rewarded, and where patience and grinding are the key to profitability.
3 No Limit Holdem Tricks - More Profits, Guaranteed
Anyone can use these No Limit Holdem tricks to suck cash out of the pot like a vacuum, guaranteed. They are easy to use too! Read this article now to learn them.
There are many ways of doing things. You can sweep the dirt on the floor into a pile and use a dustpan and brush to sweep it up and put it in the bin. Or, you can get out the vacuum cleaner and do a better job in half the time. These No Limit Holdem tricks are going to teach you the vacuum cleaning methodology of sucking money from the poker table. So hook up the power cord and let's get to work.
Profitable No Limit Holdem Tricks #1
First things first, get down and dirty with your stack and start betting aggressive. Aggression is the best trick in the book for winning more pots and bigger pots too.
The trick is to not make it complex. Simple: never call, never check, always raise, always raise 3xbb. Got good cards? Raise more. That's it.
Profitable No Limit Holdem Tricks #2
Next trick for easy success is to take the hassle out of playing cards, making decisions, and all the complex stuff that most of us get wrong anyway. First, find or create a cheat sheet on which cards to play from which position (like the one I share around on my site).
Then, stick to quality rules like 'Don't play post flop if you didn't hit'. It's the oldest rule in the book and there's a good reason for that. You will start to quickly profit more from your sessions because you aren't losing all this cash to big mistakes.
Profitable No Limit Holdem Tricks #3
Next trick; stop playing the game and start playing the players. This is the one that is really going to take you to the next level. Don't worry too much about the game but start focusing on the players.
Who do you have position over? Who has a smaller/average stack compared to you? Who is tight and who is loose? Who doesn't like to call all-ins? Who wouldn't know if he was being bluffed if his life depended on it? You get the idea...
No Limit Holdem Lesson - The Perfect Amount To Bet Every Time
These easy to understand No Limit Holdem lesson will teach you how to bet the perfect amount every time so you become a good player. Read this article now to learn them.
You may be a new player, have been playing for a while or are even a more mature poker player. Whoever you are, I know that you like me are interested in becoming a better poker player. Once fabulous way of doing this is betting correctly. This No Limit Holdem lesson is going to teach you how to always bet the correct amount to maximize your profits at the poker table.
No Limit Holdem Lesson On Betting Correctly #1
The first lesson on betting correctly is with pre-flop betting. First, you need to maintain the same or a similar pre-flop bet no matter which cards you have. Do not vary your pre-flop bet.
This conceals the hand you have because you are betting the same no matter if you have good or bad cards. Varying your pre-flop bet gives too much away.
No Limit Holdem Lesson On Betting Correctly #2
Next, with your post-flop bets, you too need to vary these, but in a different way. You will need to bet depending on the size of the pot. So if there was a lot of action pre-flop and the pot is big you'll need to raise more to "mean" the same as if you were raising a little when no one really bet pre-flop.
The easiest way to do this is to raised in relation to the pot size. So raise a full pot, or raise a half pot. Don't make the mistake of raising compared to the big blind the whole game.
No Limit Holdem Lesson On Betting Correctly #3
Now, betting lesson number three has to do with the late game. By now, if you've got a good hand and have been playing, raising, etc, you'll have quite a few chips in the pot.
The important thing is to never ever commit more than 30% of your whole stack to the pot unless you are ready to go all-in with your hand. That's because, generally, most cards and odds etc depict that once you have 30% of your stack in the pot you are practically forced (by pot odds) to go all-in.
So be wary you don't put in too many chips and find half your stack in the pot...
Limit Holdem Micro Stakes
Fixed limit texas holdem is great for players to learn the game. Playing limit texas holdem allows you to face all types of players as well as limit the amount you can lose. While a lot of players see micro stakes as pointless because even if you are a winning player. The hourly profit you are making is very small compared to low stakes, mid stakes, and high stakes.
Winning fixed limit Texas holdem is really base on basic math mixed in with the skills and knowledge to know when to fold or bluff. Reading your opponents is a very important part of winning poker. However, in micro stakes more opponents are willing to chase cards all the way to the river. This can be a problem holding top pair and your opponent chasing for a straight or flush and gets it on the river.
However, that very same reason is why limit holdem micro is so profitable. Micro stakes is full of losing players, freerollers playing for real money for the first time, and river chasers. Playing tight aggressive poker against these type of poker players is the way to make a profitable hourly winning rate. Grinding it out at micro stakes can be great for the beginning player trying to find his or her playing style that works for them. Once you find the playing style that works for you. Micro stakes limit holdem will be easy to beat. You will be left with the thought to grind it out one table at a time, multi-table, or move up to low stakes.
How to Become a No Limit Holdem Professional Poker Player?
To become a poker expert is a lot harder than we think. Winning a few sessions is not enough. You need to win again and again so that you can grow your bankroll even as you take money out of it for your personal operating cost such as food, rent and providing for a family. You need to play even on days when you do not feel like playing, and you need to control yourself and play the same level of poker no matter how the cards are running or how bad you feel!
If you really decided to become a professional poker player, a series of study will be a vital element. You need to be frequently retooling and improving your poker game in order to stay in front of all the other sharks out there, and it is true studying will help you to do this. Here is a list of advanced program for becoming a poker professional.
Advanced Program Step 1: Exercise
Although poker is not an NBL World Championship competition it does require patience. When you sit at a poker table for at least two hours, it is really difficult to stay focused. Regular exercise is essential to be consistently successful at poker.
Advanced Program Step 2: Game Analysis
All legend players at any kind of game generally spend hours looking over their games. If you are a football or cricket professional you probably analyze your opponent's game before play against them. You probably have read all the important tactics and know the basics. Now you need to apply that knowledge. One way to do that is by carefully scrutinizing your hand histories.
Advanced Program Step 3: Critical Evaluation
You can find expert poker players whose judgment you can respect and get their input. Please do not count who claim to be making huge dollars. Monitor your opponent players and see for yourself. After playing a few sessions it should not be hard to disconnect the real winning players from the pretenders. If you can find some of these players to talk about your hands with you, you have a wonderful edge over your opponents. I am suggesting you do not let your ego get in the way of taking their advice. Some of these pros have been doing this for a long time and you have learned a lot of tips the hard way that you may now have the chance to learn at no cost.
5 Poker Leaks And How To Fix Them
Losing a big blind here and there might not sound like a big deal, but they all add up over time. Finding, and fixing small leaks can make a huge difference to your win rate over time, so here are 5 of the most common leaks, and how to fix them.
Completing the small blind
Two players limp, and you complete the small blind with a hand like 10-3 "because of the pot odds". While it's true that you're getting a very good 7-1 on your money, this spot just isn't going to be profitable. Far too many players complete the small blind with rag hands, and it's a definite losing play in the long term.
There are a number of ways this could play out. The big blind could squeeze, forcing you to fold preflop. If the big blind checks, you'll miss on the flop most of the time and be forced to fold to any action. Even if you hit top pair, you have a very weak kicker and are out of position, and with 2 cards to come there's a good chance of an over card on the turn or the flop.
Stop completing the small blind with rag hands. 90% of the time, if your hand isn't good enough to raise here then you should just fold.
Playing to tight on the button
In no limit, or pot limit, position is everything. The button is the strongest position, and as such you can play a very wide range here. In fact, if the action folds to you, you can probably open here with just about any two cards. You should also be widening your 3 bet range considerably, and raising to punish any limpers.
Playing too tight from the button is a major leak. The button should win you the most money of any position at the table, but you need to be in the action to take advantage. Loosen up here and you'll likely see your win rate increase.
Only firing one bullet continuation bets
Raising pre-flop, and then making a single continuation bet on the flop before giving up is a sure-fire way to leak chips. Your opponent can call with a wide range of hands on the flop, but may well be forced to lay hands down to aggression on the turn, and then the river.
Being more aggressive throughout a hand, and firing off multiple times, will win you a lot of medium sized pots. If you find yourself giving up after the flop, checking down and then losing to ace high, or a low pair, you know that betting on multiple streets would have won that hand. Choose your spots wisely though, don't just bet the turn randomly. Make sure your bets are believable, and that you're betting turn cards which logically could have helped your hand, otherwise you'll find yourself getting called down light.
Not isolating limpers
A fundamental rule of successful poker, is playing pots against weak opponents, in position. If a fishy player limps from early position, and the action fold to you, you should almost always raise to isolate.
A major leak here is to limp behind, or fold a mediocre holding. The weak opponent has already shown weakness by limping from early position, so take advantage. There is a very good chance they will fold to a raise, or to a single c-bet so start isolating more and see your results improve!
Checking to induce a bluff
Not getting maximum value with your strong hands is one of the worst leaks of all. If you have top pair, top kicker and you suspect your lone opponent is beat, checking to induce a bluff on the river is often a bad idea.
The thinking behind this move is that they may have a busted draw, and so will never call a river bet. However, they are just as likely to have a lower pair, or top pair with a lower kicker. Failing to bet in this position, and get maximum value from your hand is probably costing you money, so start value betting here and reap the rewards.
Aggressive Holdem - 5 Amazing Loose Aggressive No Limit Holdem Tips
If you ever want to succeed with a loose Holdem strategy you need to check out these amazing tips. I'm revealing 10 quick and easy tips that really work.
Aggressive Holdem Tip #1 - Have a game plan. You need to go in with a game plan. Being aggressive is one of those things that's a little hard to do in the situation. Especially when you are playing loose. So know how much you are betting beforehand and stick to the plan!
Aggressive Holdem Tip #2 - Have the bankroll to support you. It's hard to be aggressive when you are low on cash. Sit down at the table with a bigger stack then normal and have the bankroll to be able to handle the ups and downs.
Aggressive Holdem Tip #3 - Identify the play style of everyone at the table. By doing this, you will know who is going to fight back at you and who will roll over to your bets. Don't take on blind defenders. Or if a tight aggressive is playing his 1 in 10 pots and you don't have a good hand, skip that one.
Aggressive Holdem Tip #4 - Intimidate when you can with semi-bluffs. All out bluffing carries a bit of risk with it but this is significantly reduced when you have a half-good hand but not the best possible. You can still work with this and betting aggressively to intimidate your opponents can often win you the pot easily.
Aggressive Holdem Tip #5 - Remember to play loose aggressive against good players. Good players are smart enough to second-guess their hand and fold to you. Bad players will just keep calling for no reason or even if they have a high pair or something. It's harder to bluff new/bad players.
Practice these tips and they will definitely increase your poker game. Now let me ask you a question. Do you want to learn more about how to play Holdem aggressive?
You Can Always Earn Profits Playing Low Limit Hold'em
During the last 17 years, I have earned from $400 to $750 per month playing live low limit hold'em games. I play an average of 3 hours per day. I am a recreational player. But I only enjoy playing if I earn some money.
I Won this money by following a few (what I call) rules of play that work exceptionally well for low and medium limit poker. I developed these rules by reading the available books and paying attention at the table.
Some recent poker books actually guarantee that you will lose money. They tell players to play too many hands. However, they are valuable to read for three reasons. First, they teach you what hands most other players play. Second, they teach you how to win more pots but lose money over the long run. And, they help you see what not to play. You can't beat the rake in low limit poker if you play too many hands.
Follow these rules and you will always earn money in the long run. As you gain skill, your earnings will increase. Your skill will come from learning to read other players.
1) Weak players rarely fold any ace, pair or two suited cards in low limit hold'em. They will often call bets with them all the way to the river even though it should be obvious to them that they are beat. This is the major reason why you can earn money in the long run.
Here is how to earn money. Never play hands that have a negative or near negative expectation. Only play hands that have positive expectations. They place the odds in your favor over all. You can always play cards that have a positive expectation by only playing hands that equal 20 on a blackjack table or high pocket pairs. Heads up 10's 9's 8's and even 7's have positive expectations.
2) Remember that position is important. Don't play any two card hand that has a 10 kicker in early or middle position. Example: A 10, K 10, J 10. Middle and lower suited connectors always lose money in the long run.
3) Never raise preflop with two unpaired face cards in a low limit game. See the flop first in any position. If you miss the flop, muck your hand cheaply.
4) When you see the flop, only bet if you catch top pair with a good kicker. Don't play second or third pair unless you are heads up against a weak player.
5) When you catch top pair with a good kicker, don't slow play. Always bet out first or if someone bets into you raise. The reason to raise is to get rid of anyone behind you that may draw out on you and to build a larger pot that you have the best odds to win heads up. A pair, even a high pair, gets weaker against more than one player. The more players the weaker the pair is.
6) Except in rare cases, never slow play or check raise. Studies show that slow players and check raisers don't do as well as players that bet straight out. Only check raise if you are sure that some jackal will throw in a bet in late position with a weak hand trying to steal the pot when it is checked around.
7) Never call a preflop raise with anything smaller than AK. And Remember that AK is the most over rated hand in poker. You will only catch an A or a K one in 3.5 times you see a flop with it. Any pair can beat you. Always raise or re-raise with AA, KK, QQ, JJ. and 10's. In many games, people are raising preflop with any two face cards. If you think that you can get heads up with the raiser, re-raise with 99, 88, and 77.
8) Never see any flop with small pocket pairs ( 66, 55, 33, 22) unless at least 7 other players see the flop too. You will only catch a set 1 in 7 times you see the flop. When you catch the set, you will have good odds. If you don't catch a set, toss your pair. Remember that sets get beat 1 in 5 times they are played.
9) Don't play in any game where 5 or more players are calling just about every flop. This is a dumb luck slot machine tactics game. You can come out ahead in this game but your down swings can be bad.
10) Never draw to a straight or flush unless 3 or 4 players are in the hand with you and you will have the top end if you catch your hand. A flush or a straight draw will only be completed about 1 in 14 times you start preflop with 2 suited or connected cards. Playing straights and flushes in general is a losing strategy over all.
11) Don't get upset at the jackals play that wins pots from you. Over the long run they are the same players that pay you off. The best example is the player that sees any flop with any two suited cards. What he doesn't realize is out of 140 times they play two suited cards they will only complete the flush 10 times. Seeing the flop with small pocket pairs with less than 7 others calling will always lose money in the long run.
12) Remember that most players win pots but lose money in the long run. By playing a lot of hands, they are paying most of the rake for you. It is hard to beat the rake in low limit. Selective aggressive play wins in the long run.
Strategies For Winning Poker Hands Analysis
For beginning players, there is a tendency to view each betting round in isolation. While the mathematical odds of having a winning hand shift from each round, information gleaned from previous betting rounds can provide valuable insights into overall strategy. The best poker players take mental note of each bet, hesitation and fold to help them paint an overall picture as the hand emerges. Importantly, getting a high level of accuracy in prediction can help make you a better poker player in the long run.
By understanding how each player bets relative to his or her tendencies, you'll have much greater insight into how the hand unfolds. If a player makes a move you don't expect, it may be a good idea to re-evaluate what you believe he or she is holding, or to update your player expectations accordingly. By playing close attention to every hand, including those you're not active in, you'll be able to improve your understanding of how other players bet at the table.
Evaluating Pre Flop Play
Positioning plays an important role in understanding what each player is likely to hold. A raise in early position in a round signals a player has a strong hand, generally either a high pair (10s or greater) or a high ace (Ace-King or perhaps Ace-Queen suited). In a simulation of a large number of hands, it has been determined that there are 25 hands which have a positive expected value from playing ranging from an Ace-8 suited to pocket aces. The strongest five hands are A-K suited, and pocket Jacks to Aces - having one of these hands maximizes ones chances of success in the long run.
When a player raises in early position, you can assume they have a particularly strong hand, and a re-raise signals another player believes he or she has an even strong hand. Unless you have pocket aces at this point, it may be a good idea to re-evaluate your strategy. Often times, playing a strong pocket king hand in the face of a re-raise or two might put your at a disadvantage to pocket aces. Importantly, an A-K hand is a statistically underdog (slightly) to pocket tens, so make sure you adjust your odds accordingly.
Learning from Each Betting Round
If you stay in a hand past the flop, take mental note of what you believe the other players hold based upon their behavior. Being able to determine the likelihood another player holds a high pair before the flop can help greatly if you remain in the hand thereafter. When there is a large pot with multiple players, staying in with a chance of hitting top flush or straight might give you good pot odds - although keep in mind you may be drawing against a player with a higher drawing hand in certain cases.
Making smart betting decisions and updating your analysis each round can help you make the best possible decisions at each stage of the game. Creating a complete narrative from each round of betting will help you determine the optimal strategy for betting as you approach showdown.
Playing in Blinds at Limit Holdem
A blind bet is a forced bet you have to place before the round starts and cards are dealt. Poker is a battle for blinds. Without them everyone would be waiting for premium holdings and there would be no action. The blinds are there to force the action and get the game going. Because of the nature of a blind bet you, in the long run, everyone is losing money in these two positions. Learning to play the blinds correctly is a vital part of strategy in winning players arsenal.
When you are in a big blind you basically have three options
Give up and fold ( assuming you are not let to play free )

call a raise and defend your blind

re-raise and defend your blind with you having the edge of putting the last bet in
Give up and fold:
You should be giving up the weakest part of your holdings. It's just not profitable to play those trash hands. However tempting it might be to see the flop and see if you hit it hard and flop two pair or better, you are just not going to flop good often enough to make it profitable. Even if you hit, it's not guaranteed that you will get any action and win enough money to overcome the times when you call the raise and end up giving up after missing the flop.
Call a raise:
You should be calling that extra bet more often when facing a raise if there are already more than one people in the pot. The more players there are in the hand, the bigger the pot is, and the better your odds are. A perfect place to play hands like suited connectors, suited aces, suited kings and small pairs. Any hand that has the potential to flop big is a good hand here. Be careful with a hand like weak ace. If you flop that ace the chances are you are already beaten by a bigger ace. I personally like to discard the smaller non-suited aces here.
re-raise:
Naturally you re-raise with your premium hands but this is the place to use your imagination and play back even when the cards don't justify it. When you re-raise with hand like 7-8 against a single opponent here and an ace flops. When you make a continuation bet, your opponent is going to muck pretty much all hes holdings that do not have an ace, and there will be lot of them. Most of the time you can just pick up the pot right there. Second scenario is a small flop that hits your 7-8. Now your opponent is not going to believe that this flop is good for you and might be calling you down with very weak holdings or even bet the whole way with nothing trying to get you to fold. Make your opponent's life harder by re-raising frequently. Do not over do it though or you are going to be facing a lot of 4-bets if your opponents are playing good and adapting. Balance is the key here.
15th April, also known as Black Friday changed the lives of many - this was the day when the FBI seized the domains of the biggest online poker rooms and one of the consequences is that Full Tilt Poker still remains closed. Perhaps those professional poker players were the most affected who made their living playing poker online. One day, they noticed that they can not log in to the sites, where they made their daily bread. Many of them felt that their country betrayed them and made them unemployed for no reason, so they had to leave the country to continue their chosen profession, or they had to choose another path.
Many top players in the world were affected and it was relatively easy for many of them to find another place to call their home base. Those who moved or set up a residency abroad and continued to play included the word's perhaps most popular player Daniel Negreanu, high-stakes regular Phil Galfond, EPT-winner Kevin MacPhee, Gavin Hastings, Olivier "livb" Busquet, one of the best $5-$10 to $25-$50 no-limit hold'em cash games grinders around Andrew Brokos and one of the most creative online players Cole South. The most popular destination is Canada because of its closeness and the language.
In late July, WSOP champion Phil "OMGClayAiken" Galfond began his new life in Vancouver, Canada. He plays mainly high-stakes tables on PokerStars. Shortly after his relocation he tweeted he played happily and still loves the game.
Andrew "Foucault" Brokos also went to Canada where he strengthens team PokerStars Online. Brokos has been living nomadically in the U.S. for the 18 months prior to Black Friday, just travelling around the country playing online poker, so packing up and leaving the country was not too disruptive for him. Currently, he lives in the Canadian Rockies with his girlfriend.
Others, however, found it more difficult to find a place that they could call home and from which they could play poker. One of them is Dan "Jungelman12" Cates, who still has not found a new homeland. He was unable to enter Canada because he did not have a valid visa - to play poker as a living you need a working visa. The same in Europe so he has not yet found a European country that will accept him. Previously, he was considering Portugal, currently he lives in London, but he is still not certain that England will be the final destination. He applied for the Canadian visa in the meantime. Cates, who won $ 7.5 million between 2010 and 2011, wanted to relocate from Seattle to Vancouver.
Many others are also looking for a place from which they can play at the virtual green felt on a daily basis. The 26 years old WSOP bracelet winner Joe Ebanks from Ohio with total career earnings of almost $5,000,000 wants to continue his online poker career and will probably move to Canada, England or somewhere else in Europe where online poker is legal.
These players are not fleeing some kind of a despot country in order to protect their living, they are simply trying to get out of a country where at present they can no longer make their livelihood. Taking advantage of the situation, PocketFives Poker Forum created the Poker Refugees service. PocketFives founder, Cal Spears explained that he noticed that relocation and its challenges had become a hot topic on the forum. The cost of the Poker Refugees service is $1,000 per person. They will help with a range of services, including finding a place to live, making travel plans, visa acquisition, getting a local bank account and more.
